Privacy Policy
PawLapse turns a photo of your dog into portraits of them at other ages. This page explains exactly what leaves your phone, where it goes, and for how long. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics SDKs and no tracking.
What we receive
- Your dog's photo. When you scan a photo or generate a portrait, the photo is sent to our server and on to OpenAI, whose models read the dog's features and paint the portraits. We only process photos of dogs; photos of people are refused.
- A device identifier. The app creates a random identifier on first launch and keeps it in your phone's Keychain. It lets purchased credits stay with the phone. It is not your name, email or Apple ID, and we cannot connect it to you.
- Purchase records. When you buy credits, Apple sends us a signed receipt. We keep the transaction identifier so each purchase is counted once. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card.
- Usage counts. For each device identifier and day: how many portraits it generated, how many requests the app made and which features they were for (for example scanning a photo or unlocking a portrait). We use these to prevent abuse and to count how many people use PawLapse. They hold no photos, names, emails or IP addresses, and are never shared or used for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Your photo and the finished portraits are held on our server, encrypted, for up to 24 hours so the app can fetch them, then deleted.
- A record of the job (without any images) is kept for 30 days so we can help if something went wrong. It holds the device identifier, timings and any error.
- Credit balances and purchase identifiers are kept for as long as they are needed to honour your purchases.
- Daily usage counts are kept for about 13 months, then deleted.
- Portraits you keep live only on your phone, in the app. Deleting the app deletes them.
Who else sees it
- OpenAI processes the photo to generate portraits, under OpenAI's policies. OpenAI's API does not use your content to train its models.
- Apple processes payments and sends us purchase receipts.
- Railway hosts our server and database.
We do not sell or share your data with anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your choices
- Every photo is sent only when you tap to scan or generate. Nothing is uploaded in the background.
- Camera and photo access are optional and asked for only when you use them. The photo picker gives the app only the photo you choose.
- To have your server-side records removed, email us with the device identifier shown under Settings → Help in the app.
Children
PawLapse is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
